xxCat hunting mice - its in my kitchen now???
I have spent many hours trying to catch the wildlife that my cats have brought in for me, usually alive . Great fun!!!!!! It sounds as though this rodent you have now is not long for this world. Best thing to put it outside and let nature take its course.. I have had squirrels racing around my house, rabbits running up and down my hall, wood mice hiding in stupid places, and voles running across my pillow when I was in bed. Great fun cats arnt they? Remove the mouse. If the mouse is too badly mangled and you feel you must end his suffering, you can try to drown him, or use the exhaust from the car. If you think the mouse has a chance, take him out and let him free.
Don't keep the mouse in the house. Mice can carry parasites that can cause lyme disease and other illnesses.
Praise your cat for bringing you the mouse and give her a treat. As much of a turnoff as this can be for you, the cat is trying to give you a present, and moreso, you want to encourage this trait. If you don't ';reward'; her, she'll start eating her kill and could easily pick up various parasites.
Yes, tossing the mouse out may sound rough, but honestly, you don't want to get sick, nor for your family and cat to get sick.
Best of luck!
You could wait and see. If there's a stink in the house in a few days, look behind the fridge and under the cooker.
OR you could let poor kitty back in and let nature take it's course.
Poor kitty has just done what comes naturally to kittens and how clever she is!!! She has proudly brought you the best gift she could . . .
after all . . . DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE OVER-RUN WITH MICE? It is written that where one mouse is, there are at least 50 others, so your Kitty deserves a little bowl of cream for her hard work.
She is trying to keep your home vermin-free, and wanted to show you that she's earning her keep.
And NO I am not a mouse-hater. I've loved and kept them as pets for my children.
But you know the old saying 'EVERYTHING IN ITS RIGHT PLACE'.
It's quite usual for cats to play with their catch even though it seems awfully cruel to us, so if you can catch the mouse yourself and it is badly hurt, a quick death is the kindest thing to do. Dad used to catch them and drown them; although a slower method but he said it was a kind way.
Bring the cat in put the mouse out. Cats do this quite a lot. She is either bringing you the mouse as food since you clearly can't hunt your own or maybe she is bringing it alive so you can learn to hunt. Either way she is following her instincts to keep her family fed
You'd better catch it! Many a time I'd have to get up at three in the morning to help catch a mouse. All you can do is put it back in the garden in a quiet, dark place and hopefully it'll run away with a new view on life.
Get it out of the house, having suffered two mice infestations I promise you, it's the kindest thing you can do for yourself.
get humane mouse trap and let it back out.put huge bell on cat collar so she hopefully not do it again.i shout out to mine while pointing at the door. 8 times out of 10 they take it outside n leave it on the doorstep 4 me x bless em x
You gotta a good cat for sure.. pitch the mouse outside.. dont let it stay in the house..Dont worry about the mouse.. dont feel sorry for the critter.. just be glad its half dead.. Pick it up by its tail and give it a winder out the back..
Cats ... catch ... mice.
Then they bring them into the house to play with, kill and eat. Get used to it, it's natural, it's what cats do.
Put it in a box and keep an eye on it. The mouse may just be stunned. If he gets better put him outside and keep the cat indoors.
