Hunting the Crazy Mountains in Montana?

I'm going to go hunting up in the crazies this weekend and all I have is a cow elk tag. When can you hunt with just a cow tag? Can I even hunt with a cow tag?

You can to the Montana Fish and Game website and it should tell you the appropriate hunting time for your area. I'm not sure, but your tag might even say. I know elk season is open right now.
