Is hunting a sin, or said not to be done in the bible?

No. Read David. He killed lions and bears. and Esau was a hunter.Is hunting a sin, or said not to be done in the bible?
For the person who wondered how we ate before grocery stores: sin only became a pertinent issue after it was defined, which happened, for our purposes, in the Bible. In the Bible, animals were not hunted--ancient Hebrews were pastoralists raising domesticated animals for consumption. Hence, no hunting in the bible.Is hunting a sin, or said not to be done in the bible?
Hunting for life is never a sin. It is never sinful to sustain life- which is why it is never wrong to steal to feed the starving; seek medical treatment for injury or anything else appropriate to sustaining life.

For this, I will be stoned to death. But good! At least I die speaking what is right.
The varied reactions to hunting often involve deep feelings. So it is best for Christians to strive to understand and apply Jehovah God’s thinking on the matter as found in the Bible.

God gave mankind dominion over both “wild” and “domestic” animals. At first, humans did not have the Creator’s permission, nor perhaps any physical need, to kill animals for food. (Genesis 1:24, 29, 30) Only after the Flood did God give mankind the right to eat animal flesh that was properly drained of “its soul—its blood.” (Genesis 9:3, 4) That could be meat from either domestic or wild animals.

God’s requirement that the blood of slain animals be poured out should remind hunters that animal life is from him and so ought to be treated respectfully, not wantonly. (Leviticus 17:13) Nimrod evidently slaughtered animals and probably boasted about his hunting skill, the size or number of his kills, or the trophies that might have been made from them. He was “a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah.”—Genesis 10:9.

Such a thrill over hunting or killing animals, or over reeling in fish, could develop in a Christian. Many a hunter or fisherman who has scrutinized his heart has discovered that he was infected with the ‘joy of the kill.’ Such excitement goes hand in hand with wanton disregard for animal life. So while it is not wrong to hunt or fish (when the kill or catch will be used by someone for food or another fitting purpose), it would be improper to do so if a Christian had a spirit reminiscent of Nimrod. But there are dangers besides getting a thrill out of the chase, the kill, or a trophy.

Some Christians may like the flavor of certain game or fish, and the most practical way to obtain such food is by hunting or fishing. Others enjoy the air and exercise linked with hunting in the woods, or find that quiet hours of fishing are relaxing. The Bible does not speak against this, so there is no need to judge others as to whether they enjoy such things or not. And the example of Isaac and his sons shows that there is no need to make an issue of who will eat the game or fish.—Matthew 7:1-5; Romans 14:4.

The apostle Peter was evidently quite attached to fishing. With some fish lying nearby, the resurrected Jesus helped him to analyze his own feelings about fish or the fishing business. Jesus asked: “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”—John 21:1-3, 9-15

Similarly, a Christian who in good conscience chooses to go hunting or fishing should have his priorities in order. For example, if a hunting or fishing season was to open at a time when congregation meetings were scheduled, what would he do? Or does his conversation show that he takes pride in his prowess at hunting or fishing? How fine it is if a mature Christian who, on occasion, chooses to hunt or fish can say with conviction: “Yes, Lord, you know I have affection for you [more than for these pursuits].”—John 21:16.

Greeting.Rafael.
God gave humanity permission to eat meat after the Flood (Genesis 9:3). I think they both hunted and raised animals to eat.

Question: ';Was Jesus a vegetarian? Should a Christian be a vegetarian?';

Answer: Jesus was not a vegetarian. The Bible records Jesus eating fish (Luke 24:42-43) and lamb (Luke 22:8-15). Jesus miraculously fed the crowds fish and bread, a strange thing for Him to do if He was a vegetarian (Matthew 14:17-21). In a vision to the Apostle Peter, Jesus declared all foods to be clean, including animals (Acts 10:10-15). After the Flood in Noah's time, God gave humanity permission to eat meat (Genesis 9:2-3). God has never taken this permission back.

With all that said, there is nothing wrong with a Christian being a vegetarian. The Bible does not command us to eat meat. There is nothing wrong with abstaining from eating meat. What the Bible does say is that we should not force our convictions on this issue onto other people or judge them by what they eat or don’t eat. Romans 14:2-3 tells us, ';One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.';

Again, God gave humanity permission to eat meat after the Flood (Genesis 9:3). In the Old Testament law, the nation of Israel was commanded to not eat certain foods (Leviticus 11:1-47), but never commanded against eating meat. Jesus declared all foods, including all kinds of meat, to be clean (Mark 7:19). As with anything, each Christian should pray for guidance as to what God would have them eat. Whatever a person decides to eat is acceptable to God as long as we thank Him for providing it (1 Thessalonians 5:18). 1 Corinthians 10:31 declares, ';So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.';
Of course it's not said to not be done in the Bible. Like the first answerer said, how else were people supposed to get food before grocery stores?

I personally disagree with hunting for reasons other than food, but that's just me.
the word of God isn't the gendarme of the world. the bible is there for christians only to obey.
killing living animals or humans for sport can be consider a sin.
this is what American used to do hundreds of years ago before their were ever grocery stores and before people started getting fat.
Hunting to put food on the table is not wrong.

Hunting to hang a trophy on the wall is.
I know in judaism it is. Hunting for sport. If you do it for food it's fine.
I haven't seen any of this in the Bible but if people are hungry and this is the only means of course not don't we all eat meat.
No. God gave us dominion over animals. He gave then for meat. A good hunter has always been highly favored in any camp.
Depends on what you are hunting!
How do you think people ate before we had grocery stores every 2 blocks?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
is eating a 'sin'?
The only sin in the bible is hunting for the truth.
